The assignment were to refurbish a house for the artist Isamu Noguchi. It was clear that Noguchi felt as a “mis-fit” in his outer world, never truly feeling at home due to his upbringing as a half American half Japanese in Japan. All his life he felt abandoned from his father, and ignored by his mother. This led to a life in constant search and loneliness. He found peace in nature as a spiritual person.
This sanctuary embodies a holistic vision
a space designed to nurture mind, body, and soul. It merges Japanese minimalism with the big, bold comfort of American design. Low, multifunctional pieces meet generous, inviting form - together creating balance between simplicity and warmth.
Seamless built-in benches encourage grounding and calm.
More than a home, this sanctuary is a haven where nature meets the soul - every element designed to support balance, peace, and wellbeing.
